"Jacobini – Lazio Bianco 2022"
Timeless charm of old-world aristocracy, embodied in this case by Count Alessandro Carafa Jacobini and his wife, Nina Farrell, who is also a “Donna del Vino” (Lady of Wine). Entering their noble palace in Genzano feels like being transported to another era: the halls of the main floor have remained unchanged over time, and tastings take place amidst the blend of wine and art, surrounded by busts of ancestors, portraits, and memorabilia of all kinds.
The family's winemaking tradition is as ancient as everything else, but it was only after the social winery Fontana di Papa was privatized that they decided to finally bottle a small part of the wine produced from their twenty hectares of organically managed land. For now, there is only one wine: a pure Trebbiano Toscano. The 2022 vintage, the second to be marketed after a more experimental 2021, exudes floral freshness with a slight herbal note: linden, lavender, thyme, and moderately ripe nuts. It is a relatively unpretentious wine, but not a simple one, endowed with balance and very appealing freshness. Precise, clean, it pairs wonderfully with raw shrimp, spaghetti with clams, and the like.
